Strategic Partners

Habitat’s work cannot be done without strategic partners, organizations that work hand-in-hand with our staff to provide strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter in our community.

Athens Area Community Foundation

The AACF is at the heart of philanthropy in Athens, working with donors and nonprofits to align needs with values, and navigate the complicated space of giving on large and small scales.Link to AACF

Athens Land Trust

Athens Land Trust is a key component of the housing landscape in our service area, not only because of their direct work in housing, land conservation, and community agriculture, but also because of their “education and empowerment” programs, including helping to prepare our partner families for the transition to home ownership.Link to ALT

Athens-Clarke County Housing and Community Development

Athens-Clarke’s HCD manages the use of HUD grant funding, including the community development block grants and HOME grants which help fund Habitat projects. HCD’s work is critical to local management of housing, youth services, economic development and more.Link to ACC HCD

East Athens Development Corporation

The EADC is an indispensable resource for our community in general and specifically for the area around Micah’s Creek. Their work in job placement, tax assistance, health and nutrition is invaluable, as was their role as liaison to help us work with local residents in designing the new neighborhood.Link to EADC

Family PromiseĀ of Athens

Family Promise helps families to avoid or recover from homelessness with customized assistance plans. Together with Athens Area Habitat, FPA has created subsidized temporary housing that keeps families together and safe as they work to restore their lives.Link to FPA

First American Bank & Trust

First American helps Athens Area Habitat manage the funding that’s required for large projects such as home renovations, construction of neighborhoods, and servicing mortgages. As we expand our capacity, First American helps us navigate the higher demands of grant management and reporting as well.Link to First American

Fully Financial

Fully Financial is Athens Area Habitat’s partner in benefits and retirement planning for our staff. They help us plan our lives so we can help others plan their lives.Link to Fully Financial

Habitat For Humanity International

Our parent organization, Habitat for Humanity International, helps to support and coordinate Habitat affiliates across the state, the country, and the world. Programs developed here in Athens have gone national through HFHI.Link to HFHI

Lowe’s

Lowe’s is a long-time partner of Habitat for Humanity, and our local Lowe’s stores have worked hand-in-glove with Athens Area Habitat for years to provide materials and services at the lowest possible cost so that we can pass those savings on to our home buyers and renters.Link to Lowe's

Lydia’s Place

Traditionally, Habitat for Humanity hasn’t directly served the homeless community. Our partnership with Lydia’s Place is changing that, as we work together to provide subsidized housing for homeless youth accepted into area colleges and universities.Link to Lydia's Place

UGA College of Family and Consumer Sciences

Our Micah’s Creek neighborhood isn’t just a subdivision; it’s also the subject of a longitudinal study by the CFCS to quantify the impact of home ownership on education and other quality-of-life measures. Our goal is to use these measures to demonstrate the return on investment of projects like Micah’s Creek and bring them to other communities around the country.Link to UGA CFCS

Veterans Affairs

Athens Area Habitat has coordinated with Veterans’ Affairs on a variety of projects over the years to help ensure that American military veterans in our area are properly and affordably housed.Link to Veterans' Affairs

W&A Engineering

As Athens Habitat has grown from an organization constructing two or three homes a year to now building at the subdivision level, W&A Engineering has been an essential partner, providing expertise in planning, civil engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, and environmental design.Link to W&A Engineering
