We are officially done with the My Athens Is… Instagram challenge, and have finally chosen all of the pictures that will be used in the gallery! The opening of the gallery is only two and a half weeks away, and we have some important dates for you to mark on your calendar! On April 5th, there will be a VIP preview night to kick-off the exhibit with special guests, entertainment, and a sneak peek at the collection and vision for the event. Launch day, April 6th, will be completely free and open to the community. During the following two weeks, prominent residents and local organizations will be hosting special events in the gallery and will be sponsoring concerts by up-and-coming bands, lectures, and conversations themed around art, creativity, social good, and the community.

Prints and other local items will be on sale at the gallery, with all of the proceeds going to Athens Habitat for Humanity. Additional prints will be taken and used to decorate Habitat Homes throughout the city of Athens. On April 18th, an event called “My Athens Gives Back” will take place, which is an event dedicated to connecting people to and promoting causes that are working towards meeting the needs of the city. We hope to see you there!

While we have chosen all of the photos that will be used in the gallery, you can still use My_Athens as a means to share your photos of Athens with the community!
