During June, Athens Area Habitat for Humanity has been honored to participate in the Teens in Action summer program. Teens in Action is a summer program offered by Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services. The program is for teens, aged 13-15, and is limited to 10 participants. Each week the teens spend their mornings volunteering in the community, followed by an afternoon of recreational activities. These teens have helped clear out the area around the Habitat thrift store and helped assist the staff in other jobs they completed. Other volunteer sites have included the American Red Cross and the Athens Homeless Shelter. Thanks to all of these young men and women for using their summer to make a difference.
